Ted - 2 out of 5
A story told by the creator of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane. Mark Wahlberg is John Bennett. A 35 year old man who made a wish as a young boy for his teddy bear to have the ability to talk. John still lives with his teddy bear, Ted, as well as his 4 year girlfriend, Lori. A simple storyline with clever jokes and well planned one liners. The main focus is around John not growing up and being held back by Ted. Great cameo’s! Giovanni Ribisi is a creepy guy around John’s age who has had a fascination with Ted since he was a child. Joel McHale (Community, The Soup) is Lori’s boss who continually asks her out on dates. Raunchy humor spread throughout. A must see for Family Guy lover’s. I’m not a huge fan of Family Guy however I still found some enjoyment in the humor. It was the right amount for a two hour movie. I would suggest seeing Ted if you are in need of a good laugh.
Brave - 4 out of 5
The newest Pixar movie! Merida is a talented archer and the daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. She has three little brothers that are always up to no good. Merida’s mother tries to marry her off. She doesn’t feel ready and wants more out of life than marrying a clansman. Merida runs into a witch and trades for a spell to change her fate. The spell induces peril and forces Merida to be truly brave. Although this was an excellent movie it was not up to normal Pixar standards. Plenty of mother and daughter bonding. Not as captivating as ‘Up’ and not as entertaining as ‘Toy Story’. Great animation, plenty of horseback riding, and a few good laughs.
